5 Seriously Misguided Myths about Passion!!

These 5 myths about passion will catch you unawares. I know they have me…..and more than once! And in the end they become your excuses for staying on the busy treadmill of life until one day you wake up and say: was that it? about your life.

If you’re ready to choose to live your life to the full, have no regrets, and experience the unstoppable energy of someone connected with who they are and what they’re here to do…..then it is well worth questioning these common assumptions I’ve collected from clients over the years.

1. My passion should be big and earthshattering: perhaps it will be, but maybe not. Your passion of any size and will light your fire and lead to what’s next. The important thing is to uncover what you’re most passionate about and follow the breadcrumbs. Passion will change your life. Passion is energy and your passion is worthy of your attention.

Feeling passion for something, that’s a good sign you’re on the right track. You’ll be coming into alignment with your deepest self and it means you’ll be doing what you’re here to do – and who’s to say how that will impact yourself and others? You expressing your true essence might be the one thing that causes a huge ripple effect out into the world. It may not be as loud as flying to the moon or discovering the cure for cancer, but it will likely be just as impactful because that’s what you’ve been put here on this earth to do – to contribute to the whole. And you are an important part of that whole picture.

2. Once you’ve found your passion, it will always be with you. Wouldn’t this be wonderful! The reality is that you’ll cycle in and out of feeling connected with your passions. And it’s perfect because each time you come to that uncomfortable place of feeling stuck, disconnected and suddenly unsure of anything very much, it’s a sign something bigger is waiting for you. You’re hearing the call to adventure. And it’s only coming because at some point you’ve asked to be shown the way.

Your frustration, dissatisfaction, unrest is a sign that something is out of alignment now, and you’re being called on to step out of your comfort zone, into the unknown in order to reap new rewards. It’s time to answer that call.

3. You need money and time to really follow your dream – even if you knew what that dream was! I believe deep inside you, you know what your dream, your purpose is. And connecting with what you are most passionate about will lead you to that.

As for the money and time…..when you put the energy of your passion behind a project you’re called to, both money and time magically appear. As you start taking baby steps towards something you’re passionate about, the whole world will open up. You’ll attract everything you need. This is you being called to something much bigger. It’s an expansion of your heart, your head and definitely the box you may be sitting in.

And you know how you always find time to do what’s important to you – having a shower each day, brushing your teeth, eating, being with loved ones, watching your favorite movie? Don’t you think you’d find time for something that made your heart sing, and made you so excited you could barely stand it? I think so! You might even hve to remind yourself to sleep! And you may decide to sell your TV!

4. You’re too old!: If living a passionate and inspired life was just for the young, we’d be in trouble. What’s supposed to happen? Get to a certain age and retire to the armchair with your knitting? Waste all that wisdom you’ve gained along the way?

There is no time limit on passion, or on living your purpose. You have the benefit of life experience and wisdom. And you know thinking you’re too old, or too fat or anything else is just an excuse. I bet you even drop years (and pounds) when you really start living your passion!

5. It’s selfish to follow your passions: Following what you feel most passionate about is the least selfish thing you can do. When you connect with what brings you the most joy and fulfillment, who you’re being will ripple out to make a difference in the lives of all you connect with – even the person at the checkout in the organic veggie store!

In fact, it’s actually selfish NOT to follow your passion.

Living your passions is the catalyst for creating a truly inspired and extraordinary life. Whatever is standing in the way of you knowing this is possible for you is worth questionning. There is every reason why your life can be full of joy, expansion, fulfillment and purpose. And, as a bonus, when you’re living your passions, prosperity flows your way.

It’s Time to leap on that passion train and live your precious life. It’s time for YOU!
